Briefly About the Properties and Advantages of TPE Window Seals

Materials used for seals in PVC windows and aluminum profile structures are rapidly evolving. Traditional rubbers and halogen-containing plastics are being replaced by thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).

A thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is a special type of polymer that combines the flexibility and elasticity of rubber at normal temperatures with the processability of thermoplastics at elevated temperatures. This is possible because TPEs are block copolymers, where elastic (polybutadiene) blocks alternate with thermoplastic (polystyrene) blocks.

Advantages of SEBS TPE Seals

  1. Excellent ozone and UV resistance, regardless of color or installation (indoors or outdoors);
  2. Outstanding frost resistance, remaining elastic at temperatures down to –60 °C;
  3. High mechanical strength, resisting impacts and stretching, with a long service life;
  4. Warranty period of over 10 years, fully compliant with GOST 30778-2001 “Elastomeric sealing gaskets for window and door units”;
  5. Available in any RAL color, with no loss of physical properties (unlike EPDM rubber or other TPEs);
  6. No chemical vulcanization required, which reduces production costs despite the higher initial price of the polymer, while expanding options for end users;
  7. High chemical resistance to solvents, alkalis, and household detergents;
  8. Customizable properties (hardness, elasticity, resistance to oil, petrol, frost, fire, or color) by adjusting the formulation to customer requirements.

Performance and Quality

SEBS TPE seals have a smooth, uniform surface, ensuring easy installation in plastic or aluminum window profiles. They can be manufactured in complex geometric shapes, and when deformed, the elastic profile returns to its original form, fully retaining its properties.

The high quality of SEBS TPE, based on a patented formula developed by the Standard Prof Factory (Patent of Invention No. 2556638, June 19, 2013), guarantees reliable performance over many years under varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures.
